Citing growing concern for the direction of Missouri and the nation and at the urging of area residents, Perryville, Missouri, farmer and retired educator Rick Francis announced he intends to run as a Republican for the Missouri House of Representatives in the 145th District.
The 145th District includes the counties of Bollinger, Madison and most of Perry, and is served by Rep. Shelley Kenney-Taylor (R-Marble Hill), who is unable to run again because of term limits.
Francis stated, “When I look at government, I see too much wasteful spending and too many regulations hurting our small business owners and farmers. I also see a lack of respect for local control of our schools and the rights and freedoms of individuals and businesses. I intend to work aggressively to make changes in Jefferson City.”
Francis said he is not a career politician. He is serving on the Perry County School Board. He spent 33 years in education, which included teaching and coaching at high schools in Woodland and Perryville and leadership positions such as principal and assistant superintendent for the Perry County School District and the Lindbergh School District in St. Louis.
“My campaign will focus on improving the quality of life from Advance to Marble Hill, from Fredericktown to Perryville, and everywhere around and in between,” Francis said. “That means improving education and health care while standing up for small businesses and agriculture. It means working for more jobs to support our families while protecting family values such as the right to life and the right to bear arms.”
Francis went on to state his intent to run and win as a conservative, citing his pro-life, pro-gun and anti-tax-increase positions.
Rick Francis was raised in Bollinger County, educated in the Woodland School District and resides near Perryville with his wife, Chris. They have four children and five grandchildren.
