THE PUBLIC MIND: COMPANY THANKS FOR HEALTH COVERAGE
(Letter to the Editor ~ 10/29/92)
Dear Gary and Ray: Thank you very much for the excellent treatment by the Southeast Missourian and Ray Owen on the Health Careers Foundation. I especially appreciated the editorial mention in your newspaper of Oct. 6 since what we are doing is just part of the overall equation of filling the need in health careers. Because it is somewhat fragmented, many people in Cape Girardeau do not realize that the largest single employer in our region is the healthcare industry...

(Letter to the Editor ~ 10/29/92)
SHALL COUNTY PLANNING AND ZONING BE CONTINUED? Cape Girardeau County voters will confront that question on Nov. 3. We believe their answer should be "Yes." The question before us is not a referendum on the proposed zoning order. It is not a decision about whether county planning should become county planning and zoning by the adoption of the ordinance presently before the County Commission. ...

THE PUBLIC MIND: WEBSTER'S AND OVER CARNAHAN INCOME IS MISLEADING; MONEY CAME FROM SETTLEMENT
(Letter to the Editor ~ 10/29/92)
I am not involved in party politics and do not intend to be. He also committed himself to "no net loss" of wetlands, and early in his presidency he supported the Clean Air Act. But things have changed. And so President Bush tries to gut the Clean Air Act and redefine wetlands out of existence. ...

VOTERS SHOULD APPROVE ZONING ISSUE IN COUNTY
(Editorial ~ 10/29/92)
The zoning issue that Cape Girardeau County voters will consider on Nov. 3 has a sense of deja vu about it ... and that is the problem. Twenty years ago, voters consid~ered the issue of county planning and gave their approval. As the moment of full implementation of this plan has come around, some now want to overturn what earlier voters had approved. We find their reasoning inadequate and believe citizens should vote to sustain county zoning...
