COUNTY 911 MAY GO ON LINE NEXT WEEK

JACKSON -- If final tests of the system go as expected, residents of Cape Girardeau County will likely have 911 emergency telephone service in place by next week. "The system is essentially in place. SPRIGG STREET CLINIC MAY CLOSE ITS DOORS

Sprigg Street Medical Center, which for the past year has served almost 3,000 people who previously had limited or no access to medical care, may have to close its doors. "It's with real regret that we make this announcement," said Dr. William O.L. Seabaugh, a long-time physician who founded and managed the facility at 24 N. JACKSON - Wet fields are hampering the fall harvest and planting of winter wheat in Missouri. September 1993 was the second wettest in more than 70 years in Cape Girardeau. So far this month rain at the airport totals 2.58 inches.
