A large part of a tree broke and fell across the neighbor's yard and into mine during the strong gust of wind Saturday evening.

The continuing drought is forcing some area peach growers to irrigate their orchards; without irrigation, they say, the peaches would be smaller; lack of moisture is nearing a critical stage, as the July and August harvest season approaches. A line of thunderstorms, generated by a rare influx of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, pushes into Southeast Missouri early in that afternoon; unfortunately, the rainfall pattern is scattered, with some areas getting over an inch, while others receive one-half inch or less.. ...
