Helen C. Seabaugh, 90, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home.

Born June 29, 1932, in Perryville, Missouri, to George and Mary Schindler Hayden, Helen was the fifth of eight children. She was a graduate of Jackson High School.

Helen and Ora Jesse "O.J." Seabaugh were married June 28, 1952, at First Baptist Church in Jackson. Three children — Cathie, La Donna and Jesse — were born to their union. They had been married 47 years when O.J. passed away Jan. 2, 1998.

Helen worked at Florsheim Shoe Co., Venture and America's Best Center for Hearing in Cape Girardeau and International Shoe Co. and P.N. Hirsh in Jackson.

Helen enjoyed sewing, but her all-time favorite hobby was working in her yard.

She was a longtime, faithful member of First Baptist Church in Jackson, teaching Sunday school, singing in the JOY Choir and serving in other capacities over the years.

Loving survivors include three children, Cathie (the late Vincent) LaJoie, La Donna (John) Meyer and Jesse (Catherine) Seabaugh, all of Jackson; five grandchildren, Yvette (Dave) Crites of Ferguson, Missouri, Toccarra (David) Lawrence of New Braunfels, Texas, Lelia (Justin) Spaeth of Cape Girardeau, Jessica (Hunter) Thomason of Chaffee, Missouri, and Whitney Seabaugh of Paducah, Kentucky; seven great-grandchildren, Gavin Smith of Cape Girardeau, Skylar Presley of New Braunfels, Cade and Xoie Crites of Ferguson and Christian, Cameron and Cade Thomason of Chaffee; and many nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, a son-in-law, seven siblings and her parents.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The Rev. Randy Riley will conduct the funeral at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at the funeral home, followed by interment at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to First Baptist Church JOY Choir.
