Gas prices rise, fall in different parts of country

While Missourians are, on the average, enjoying cheaper gasoline prices than a week ago, the same cannot be said for denizens of many nearby states.

Missouri’s average cost for a gallon of regular gasoline fell 4 cents to $3.04 a gallon, but other states such as Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas saw their prices go up. Only Mississippi and Arkansas have average costs below $3 a gallon.

California and Alaska, along with other western states with higher averages, saw those decrease week to week. California’s average, still the highest in the nation, fell 8 cents to $4.84 a gallon.

Average diesel prices stood at $3.37 per gallon in Missouri and $3.79 a gallon nationwide.
