Slight jump in gas prices nationally, locally

Gas prices slightly increased over the past week, with averages for regular gas rising 5 cents to $3.50 a gallon nationally and 7 cents to $3.13 per gallon in Missouri.

Though numerous states had averages below $3 a gallon in previous weeks, only Mississippi’s average remains below that amount this week, at $2.94 a gallon for regular gasoline. California’s average remains the nation’s highest at $4.80 per gallon.

Diesel prices saw a small bump, with the national average for diesel fuel rising by a single cent to $3.82 per gallon and the Missouri average jumping 4 cents to $3.43 a gallon.

Regular fuel prices fluctuated only a single cent, up and down respectively, in Scott and Perry counties. In Cape Girardeau, however, the average cost of regular fuel rose by 6 cents.

* Cape Girardeau: $3.09;

* Perry: $3.06;

* Scott: $3.20.

* Cape Girardeau: $2.94 to $3.09;

* Jackson: $2.94 to $3.14;

* Perryville: $2.99 to $3.12;

* Scott City: $3.19.
