Euna Barlow-Schoelhamer

NEW MADRID — Euna Barlow-Schoelhamer, daughter of James and Betty Lou Matheny Barlow, was born June 7, 1937, in Kennett and departed her life Saturday, July 13, 2024, at New Madrid Living Center in New Madrid at the age of 87 years.

She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Chaffee, and was retired from the Florsheim Shoe factory in Cape Girardeau.

Euna was first married to Gene Newsom. He passed away Oct. 2, 2000. She was also united in marriage to Michael John Schoelhamer. He preceded her in death Oct. 6, 2010.

Survivors include one son, Jeff (Edna) Newsom of Portageville; one daughter, Lisa (Joseph) Head of Sikeston; one sister, Maureen "Sis" Sadler of Kelso; eight grandchildren, Crystal (Stan) Hunt, Phillip (Melissa) Jackson Jr., Jera (Wesley) Patterson, Kindrea (Brent) James, Joanie Gladden, Jacob (Tiffany) Head, Matthew (Alexis) Head and Caleb Head; 19 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, Euna was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell, Pete and Bob Barlow; and by three sisters, Pauline Fortner, Murlean Manes and Margaret Kinder.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Chaffee.

Funeral service will then be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Eugene Poole officiating. Interment will follow in Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.
