Richard Hodge

CHAFFEE — Richard Paul Hodge, 69, of Chaffee passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 12, 2024, at his home, surrounded by family, after a 10-year battle with prostate cancer.

He was born July 19, 1955, in Cape Girardeau to Elery Lee and Lora “Delo” Dunn Hodge. Richard was a 1974 graduate of Chaffee High School. Richard and Carol Glastetter were married July 30, 1977, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee. They recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary.

He previously was employed at HWI (Do It Best) before he became disabled after a stroke in 2008, which took most of his ability to talk. Richard loved to mow, garden and work in the yard. He also loved his seven grandsons, and, oh, how he loved Tyson’s football games!

Loving survivors include three daughters, Julie (Matt) Underwood, Jill (Jason) Morgan and Jodi (Andy) Palisch; seven grandsons, Tyson and Trey Underwood, Tanner and Gavin Morgan, Dru, Russ and Lee Palisch; one sister, Nelda (the late Wayne) Gross; and other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law, Leo and Luella Glastetter; two sisters; six brothers; and a nephew, Kevin Ancell.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with parish prayers at 4 p.m., Friday, Aug. 16, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Eucharistic celebration will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
