Cape Airport Manager Katrina Amos announces resignation on Friday

Cape Girardeau Regional Airport Manager Katrina Amos announced Friday, Aug. 16, she is leaving the position for a municipal position in Collierville, Tennessee.

Cape Girardeau Regional Airport Manager Katrina Amos has announced her resignation from her position effective by Sept. 13, according to a City of Cape Girardeau news release.

Amos states in the release that she is looking forward to future opportunities as she will take the position of Deputy town administrator in Collierville, Tennessee.

"It has been an honor to serve as the Airport Manager of the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport. I am proud of what we have accomplished together, and I am confident that the airport will continue to thrive in the years to come,” Amos stated in the release. “I’d like to thank Dr. Haskin and City leadership for the opportunity to steer the airport to a new chapter. I am confident it is an asset the community can be proud of. I am willing to assist during this transition while the City works to identify a candidate to continue the progress at CGI.”

City manager Ken Haskin stated in the release that the city is grateful for Amos’s contributions, stating she left a “lasting legacy” and gave her their best wishes.

“During her tenure, Amos played a key role in navigating Essential Air Service airline transitions, managing substantial grant funding, building a new commercial airline terminal, reconstructing Taxiway B, constructing new T-hangars, land and building acquisition, securing a new restaurant operator, and many other operational improvements,” the release stated.

The release also says she was involved with developing a partnership with Southeast Missouri State University for their aviation program. According to the release, the City is considering several options for the new Airport Manager and the announcement of who it is “will be forthcoming".
