Cape Girardeau County Commission names three to advisory boards

Cape Girardeau County commissioners appointed three individuals to advisory boards during their Monday, Aug. 19, meeting.

Paul Nenninger and Mike Kahle were reappointed to three-year terms on the County Law Enforcement Restitution Fund Board, with their new terms expiring Aug. 28, 2027. The commissioners also appointed Kay Robins to fill an unexpired term on the Cape County Common Sewer Board, ending July 1, 2026.

They also approved a $294,715 contract with Cardinal Correctional Care of Chesterfield to provide medical care to inmates in the county jail.

Presiding Commissioner Clint Tracy said the county’s previous provider of such services sent them a letter notifying they were canceling service. As such, the commissioners approved Cardinal Correctional Care to serve the remaining time of the previous contract, until the end of the year.

The commissioners also purchased a dump truck for the county’s Highway Department in the amount of $202,879. The payment would be added to the county’s 2025 highway budget.
