Author fair coming to Cape Girardeau Public Library

Cape Girardeau Public Library will hold its fall local author fair Saturday, Aug. 31.

The local author fair will be from 1 until 3:30 p.m. in Hirsch Community Rooms.

Guests will get to know local authors and their books, while learning about their individual writing processes by attending a Q&A session with the authors’ panel. During the event, attendees also will have the chance to purchase their books.

“We usually have a great showing. Lots of people want to come out. There’s going to be refreshments, and there’ll be door prizes awarded as well,” adult services coordinator Tori Cattaneo said.

This event will have a variety of books for children, teens and adults, covering genres of nonfiction, fiction, historical fiction, science fiction, romance, Christian fiction and mystery by more than 20 authors.

“A lot of the time local authors don’t have the same resources that the bigger name authors do that have the backing of different publishing companies. A lot of these people are self-published, so they don’t have that extra marketing and other resources, and we just like to help them out. They’re part of our community, and we want to help out all of our community,” Cattaneo said

Some of the local authors attending include Anne Jeffries, Donald Jeffries, Chely Penn, Dean Winstead, Ruth Sauerbrunn-Winstead, Deborah Raney, Ken Raney, Greg Stout, Kay Kizer, Mary Koeberl Rechenberg, Sue Vogelsanger, Kathryn Muelheausler, Dr. Loretta Prater, R.L. Rinne, Bob R. Creel, Alison Barbaron, Joseph Moore, Michelle Webb, Breanna Bright, Freddie Butler, Erwin Porter, Ralph Freer, Morley Swingle, Dawn Prim, Saundra Flanagan and Mark Bliss
