Former teacher charged with sexual contact with student, released on bond

Lindsey Limbaugh

A former Kelly High School teacher Lindsey Limbaugh has been released from jail after pleading not guilty and waiving formal arraignment Monday, Aug. 26.

Limbaugh is facing felony charges of sexual contact with a student in Cape Girardeau County and was facing the same charge in Scott County.

According to previous Southeast Missourian reporting, Limbaugh and an unidentified student said during an interview with Scott County authorities that Limbaugh and students were on a field trip with students to a Cape Girardeau park.

Limbaugh and the student went to the men’s restroom at the park, kissed and the student touched Limbaugh sexually while in the restroom, according to the interview. Limbaugh stated in her interview that she consented to being kissed but did not consent to being touched.

According to Limbaugh’s Scott County case, the probable cause stated she admitted to having a sexual relationship with a student, while the physical relationship started with the two “making out” in the student’s truck at a car wash, it escalating to sexual acts at the student’s house. It’s unclear whether the cases involve the same student.

Limbaugh was released on a $5,000 bond with the case review scheduled for Monday, Sept. 23.
