The Cape Girardeau Police Department arrested Skylar Brown, 21, on Friday, Sept. 6, and Kyle Dodd, 18, on Monday, Sept. 9, for harassment in the first degree. Both arrests came after the police responded to a report of shots fired Sept. 4.

According to both probable-cause statements, when the officers arrived at the scene, they found what appeared to be a gunshot hole above the front door that went through a residence. The documents stated there were three children in the house when the shooting occurred.

The victim stated in both documents he had “received multiple threatening messages” before the incident occurred. In Brown’s probable-cause statement, the victim stated he allegedly received multiple messages over Facebook from the name "Skylar Brown" one of them being "I'm gonna kill yo whole family (expletive)," with the message sent four hours before the shooting.

In Dodd's probable-cause statement, the victim stated he received multiple messages from a Snapchat account with the name "Swaze" and the victim identified the account as Dodd. The victim also allegedly received a message four hours before the incident from the account that said, "Imma kill u and yo whole (expletive) family."

According to both probable causes, the victim wished to pursue charges against the people who sent the messages.

Brown's probable cause stated that the officer was able to locate Brown and bring him into custody. After the officer showed Brown a printout of the messages that were sent, Brown allegedly admitted he wrote them.

The details of Dodd's arrest are unknown but both men are being held on $25,000 bonds.
