Tyler Perry is in town
So far we've had reported sightings of Rosamund Pike, Ben Affleck and Neil Patrick Harris. But it wasn't until today that we received visual proof that Tyler Perry is indeed in town.
The writer and actor best known for his Madea character was photographed in Cape Girardeau, as seen on a Facebook group page called Gone Girl Filiming in Cape Girardeau.
Perry plays the defense attorney for Affleck's Nick Dunne.
Crews are in multiple spots around town today, including residential areas, the Common Pleas Courthouse gazebo and at the old federal building, which has been turned into the North Carthage Police Department.
The "Gone Girl" story takes place in the fictional Mississippi River town of North Carthage, Mo., for which Cape Girardeau will provide the visuals. The story is based on a best-selling 2012 novel in which Amy Dunne, wife of writer Nick Dunne, disappears after they move to Missouri. Nick becomes the primary suspect.
