Guess who we saw at the 'Gone Girl' set
We've seen plenty of familiar faces on the set of "Gone Girl," from celebrities like David Fincher, Ben Affleck and Tyler Perry to co-workers like our very own Brad Hollerbach to friends.
But we saw someone Friday we didn't necessarily expect to see.
Do you recognize the man in this photo? He's not a movie star, but in this state, he is a celebrity. His celebrity status comes not from show biz, but from politics.
He's Missouri's lieutenant governor, Peter Kinder, who hails from Cape Girardeau. Kinder has been big in the news lately, with stories about his possible run for Congress and an audit of his office.
Southeast Missourian photo editor Laura Simon was prowling the Common Pleas Courthouse grounds Friday to get some shots of the action surrounding the "Gone Girl" filming that was happening that night when she saw a familiar face. She snapped photos of Kinder taking some of his own pictures of Hollywood in his hometown. Where most people would probably be escorted away from the set, Kinder's status as a statewide office holder probably allowed him plenty of access.
When Hollywood comes to town, even a man of Kinder's stature turns into a sight-seer like the rest of us.
The Common Pleas lawn was the site of marathon shooting sessions Thursday and Friday night. One extra said he was on scene for 13 hours Thursday night into Friday morning, and another said Friday night shooting wrapped at 4 a.m. today, followed by some paperwork.
