Private audience will hear from Fincher; shooting coming to close
Do you have your invitation to hear David Fincher speak on Sunday?
This weekend the "Gone Girl" director will be the subject of a question-and-answer session at 6:30 p.m. at Rose Theatre on the Southeast Missouri State University campus. But if you're hoping to go, you'll need a ticket -- this event is by invitation only. Even us media people, with whom the cast and crew have been particularly gracious, won't be allowed to sit in on this one, meaning those who are there could get a much more candid experience than they would otherwise.
Dr. James Dufek, a university professor who has worked with the film crew, told our Keith Lewis that Fincher agreed to the session because the audience will consist mostly of students who study media. Our experiences with Fincher have shown us he does have an interest in helping young people achieve their goals in his industry.
Shooting wrapping up soon
Hollywood won't be in Cape Girardeau too much longer. 20th Century Fox will end shooting here of "Gone Girl" scenes in the next week or so, Erin Ragan reports in a story for Friday's Southeast Missourian. But overall, the production has filmed here about double the originally scheduled time, which was three weeks.
Earlier this week extras were brought out for a news conference scene, and a Facebook group following the filming said shots were taking place Thursday at a home in Cape Girardeau.
Comparing Cape Girardeau and North Carthage
Southeast Missourian webmaster and blogger James Baughn has read the "Gone Girl" book, like many of us here, and is using his expertise in historic locations and outdoor scenes to compare the fictional North Carthage to the real Cape Girardeau.

Interview with Flynn coming up
Be sure to pick up a copy of the Southeast Missourian on Sunday, or visit this website, for an interview with "Gone Girl" author and Missouri native Gillian Flynn, by Keith Lewis.
Keith has interviewed David Fincher and two of the movie's supporting actors for us so far.
