Gone Girl Film Adaptation Has New Ending
For those that read Gillian Flynn's novel Gone Girl and didn't feel satisfied by the ending, the film may provide some redemption.
Film director David Fincher told Entertainment Weekly that Flynn wrote an entirely new ending for the film.
He said part of the reason behind the change was the lackluster response to one of his last book-turned-film projects. After directing the film that brought Stieg Larsson's wildly popular The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo to life, Fincher told EW he learned that it's possible to be "too beholden to the source material."
As for Flynn, she was excited to craft an entirely new third act for her story.
"There was something thrilling about taking this piece of work that I'd spent about two years painstakingly putting together with all its eight million LEGO pieces and take a hammer to it and bash it apart and reassemble it into a movie," she told EW.
Knowing the film will have a few new twists adds to the interest of the newly released trailer, which you can watch here and read the Missourian's brief analysis of it here
What do you think about the decision to write a new ending? Are you happy to see it scrapped or were you a fan of the story as written in the book? Leave us a (spoiler free) comment with your thoughts.
