New posters, teaser trailer for Gone Girl film
As "Gone Girl's" Oct. 3 film debut creeps closer, the anticipation only seems to intensify.
Directed by David Fincher, the film, based on Gillian Flynn's novel of the same name, centers around Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike) and her husband Nick (Ben Affleck). When Amy goes missing on the couple's anniversary, Nick becomes the prime suspect. He maintains his innocence despite the piling evidence against him, but as the secrets of Nick and Amy's life come to light it's difficult to determine who to trust.
The 1 1/2 minute first trailer was released in April and featured plenty of Cape Girardeau shots, including the former federal building on Broadway, a crowd outside "The Bar" at Themis and Spanish streets and the Common Pleas Courthouse Gazebo.
The new trailer released today features each of these locations, along with a closing shot of the floodgates and the Mississippi River. The new clip, which features about 2 1/2 minutes of sneak peeks, also offers a look at supporting stars like Neil Patrick Harris (who plays Amy's slightly off-balance ex-boyfriend, Desi) and Tyler Perry (Nick's lawyer).
The trailer also comes with a new line of creepy film posters. Each features items in evidence bags, including a burned note that says "This man may kill me."
It's already been suggested by Fincher and Flynn the film won't follow the book page-for-page, but no doubt it will feature just as many twists. "Gone Girl" might be the best reason to look forward to the end of summer.
