New posters retain creepy vibe
New "Gone Girl" posters debuted Aug. 1, and they carry on the sinister tone of the teaser poster and trailers.
The two posters are similar to each other. Both blue-and-gray-toned posters show Ben Affleck standing on the Cape Girardeau riverfront in dim lighting. Rosamund Pike's transparent eyes look out over him above the words "Gone Girl." Both also have an image of the Fox news ticker from the movie's website and some distortion meant to look like a bad signal.
The differences: On Poster No. 1, Affleck is facing away from the camera. The tagline -- unchanged from the teaser poster -- above him reads "You don't know what you've got 'til it's ...". Poster No. 2 shows Affleck facing the camera, eyes cast down, hands jammed in pockets, looking ... guilty? Angry? Either way, creepy.
Compare the two here.
