Gyro King opening at former Cosmos location
Updated 3:20 p.m. Thursday
Gyro King restaurant will open the first week of April at 1929 Independence St. in Cape Girardeau. Cosmos Coffee and Cream was previously located at this site, near the Plaza Galleria.
Restaurant owner Ahmed Saadi also owns the U Kwick Stop at 1700 Broadway across from Southeast Missouri Hospital.
The Gyro sandwich is a Greek version of fast food. It includes grilled meats, veggies and yogurt sauce served on pita bread.
The new restaurant's menu will feature several different salads and vegetarian dishes. Appetizers and soups also will be available.
Gyro King will be open seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Extended weekend hours will be 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
