  • Does this mean renovations for the cinemas will be coming anytime soon? Or is a change of concession items the only difference we can expect?

  • fantastic comment Legend...they have been in need of renovations for years...I heard a while back they were thinking about building a new building by Wehrenberg...any truth to that still?

  • haha great, new name same low standards for a movie theatre. I can see if we were in the 70's or 80's, but come on! If there is a movie I want to see and its at that theatre, I just drive to St. Louis.

  • I think this is great. Prices have changed, but actually for the better. Its only $6.00 all day for matinees, and all day Mon-Thurs. Its also only $7.25 on Evenings Fri-Sun. This is coming from someone who once hated AMC.

  • I thought the Town Plaza Theatre closed back in the 90's?

  • And that folks, is what's wrong with the world today. Bigger, better, fancier, bells and whistles. Keeping up with the other guy. And once inside, it goes dark except for the show, so what do the "trappings" matter?

The building is serviceable, shows the movies on the big screen and audio is loud, seats are comfortable enough, price (so far) reasonable considering what cities are charging, centrally located so a lot of people could walk if they wanted to, popcorn and a soda. For two hours, why do you need anything else? Your $6 - $10 admission is barely staying local - it's filling Hollywood's coffers. If you want glitz and glamour you go to the Fox or Broadway.

I say good thing another business is not going under and that it is doing what it can to survive - a little bit at a time.

  • mc9 - why do you need anything else?

I'll tell you what else I need - my feet to not stick to the floor. Adequate restroom facilities. (4 women's stalls in the whole building??)

  • Give AMC a chance -- they haven't even seen the place yet. Once they see it, they'll probably see a few things to change.

But remember that if they do massive renovations, somebody has to pay for it. That probably means higher ticket prices. $7.50 is still cheap compared to theaters in bigger cities.

  • farmwife2 - TMI, but

2 hrs for a movie - go at home before you go. Isn't that what we tell our kids?

Sticky floors? Their fault? I think not. Slobby patrons is my 2 cents. Can't tell you how many times I see people leave their mess behind when I go to the movies. Probably just as messy at their own homes so why would they treat a public venue any better? Feet stick to the floor? Have you looked to see what YOU carried in on them there shoes?

If you want bright lights and glitz, Wehrenberg might be it, but they have their problems too.
