Jim McClelland, area marketing director for SuperValu Holdings, Inc., Scott City Distribution Center, has accepted a position with SuperValu's New England Region at Suffield, Conn., as area marketing director. Jim McClelland, area marketing director for SuperValu Holdings, Inc., Scott City Distribution Center, has accepted a position with SuperValu's New England Region at Suffield, Conn., as area marketing director.

McClelland started his career in the food industry at a supermarket in Jonesboro, Ark., serving as store manager from 1969 to 1978.

He started with Wetterau, which later became SuperValu, as a business counselor in 1978, becoming sales manager in 1986. He was promoted to director of sales and marketing in 1988 and to his current position in 1995.

Gerald W. Jones II has joined Lichtenegger, Weiss and Fetterhoff, L.L.C., Attorneys at Law.

Jones of Jackson practiced with the law firm of Limbaugh, Russell, Payne and Howard in Cape Girardeau from 1993 to 1995.

He was formerly publisher of the Cash-Book Journal and is owner and general manager of Jones and Kennon Development, L.L.C., a real estate and construction company. Jones and his wife, Amy, are also owners of Century 21 Dutch Realty at Jackson.

Jones is a graduate of Jackson High School, received bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1990, and a juris doctorate from the UM School of Law in 1993. He is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, Missouri Press Association, University of Missouri Alumni Association and the Cape Girardeau and Jackson Chambers of Commerce.

He will continue his involvement in real-estate development and construction.

John Lichtenegger, Chris Weiss and Scott Fetterhoff are partners in the law firm, which has offices at Jackson and Marble Hill. Elizabeth Chastain is an associate in the firm.

Jeff Smart has been promoted to the position of manager of Barton and Co. at Kennett.

Smart joined Barton's in 1988 as an outside salesman in Malden, before becoming an assistant manger. He has served as manager at Malden and Pocahontas, Ark.

Smart succeeds John Tant, who has been promoted to district manager for the company.

E.C. Barton and Co., established in 1885, operates 12 Barton retail building and materials stores in Missouri and Arkansas and 18 surplus warehouse discount building materials stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.

Mary Wade has retired from Lee-Rowan Co. after more than 33 years of service.

Wade was one of 25 employees when she joined the company, which produces a complete line of ventilated storage products and closet accessories and other home organizational products for markets in the United States, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, Australia and the Caribbean Basin.

Wade worked in the manufacturing and finishing departments.

Today, Lee-Rowan has more than 900 employees and has more than a million square feet of space under roof.

Wade of Jackson and her husband, Benny, have four children and 10 grandchildren. She plans to devote more time to her church work.

Angela Brewer, assessment coordinator for the Workforce Employment Solutions office in Cape Girardeau, was recently appointed secretary of the Cape Area Personnel Association.

Brewer has also been named chairman of the annual CAPA Fall Conference, to be held Nov. 18 at the Drury Lodge.

Tim Gard, a nationally recognized comic and trainer, will be guest speaker at the conference, which will include a vendor exhibit and luncheon. Personnel from areas in Southeast Missouri may attend.
