Jordan D. Drury, a Cape Girardeau native, has accepted a position with the Cole County Sheriff's Department in Jefferson City.

Drury recently completed four years with the U.S. Navy. He will serve as a correctional center guard at the maximum security prison at Jefferson City.

Drury is a 1995 graduate of Cape Central High School and served in the Navy with the VFA-86-Sidewinders Squadron as aviation ordnance man, where he was involved in the arms inspection standoff with Iraq's Saddam Hussein.

While at sea, Drury received a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and special commendations from his commanding officers.

Drury attends the sheriff's academy in conjunction with his on-the-job training within the sheriff's department.
