POPLAR BLUFF -- The board of directors of MFA Inc. has approved the purchase of LeGrand Fertilizer. LeGrand will become part of the operation of Morris Farm Center, which is headquartered in Piggott, Ark.

The purchase of LeGrand includes all equipment and physical facilities that were located at its Harvell location.

"The purchase will allow more efficient use and management of all the Morris Farm Center from the more efficient services in field crop supply products," said Dan Brown, regional manager for MFA.

"We expect this purchase to create efficiencies through equipment and employee utilization and serve an area in which MFA had no retail facility before the purchase," said Brown, adding that Mark and Sabra Hall had built the business over the years by providing quality products and service to customers, and MFA intends to continue doing that.

MFA has been in business 88 years serving the farmers of Missouri and surrounding states.

Gary Dobbins, general manager of Morris Farm Center said that the new business is in a good farm community and raises crops that MFA is already familiar with.

Tim Temples, who manages the LeGrand fertilizer business, said the purchase should enhance the services to area farmers because they will have the services not only of LeGrand, but also of Morris Farm Center.
