Cape Girardeau police chief Wes Blair announced the following promotions of police department personnel, effective Tuesday:n Capt. Jack Wimp and Lt. Mark Majoros will be promoted to the rank of assistant chief.
* Sgts. Rodney Barker, Donald Perry Jr. and Bradley Smith will be promoted to the rank of lieutenant.
* Officers Jeffrey Bonham, Darren Estes and Joseph Hahn will be promoted to the rank of sergeant.
* Officers Bryan Blanner, Cary Dunavan, Bradley Neels and Brian Vassalli will be promoted to the rank of corporal.
* Jay Knudtson, executive vice president of First Missouri State Bank of Cape Girardeau County and former mayor of Cape Girardeau, was named one of Ingram's Magazine's "50 Missourians You Should Know" for 2014. Knudtson was elected to two terms as mayor, first in 2002, and launched First Missouri State Bank with business partner Steve Taylor simultaneously. Knudtson also is a member of the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents.
* Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents president Doyle Privett of Kennett, Missouri, also was named to the list. Privett is a certified public accountant and chief financial officer for Kennett National Bank. He helped arrange for Southeast to open a satellite campus in Kennett.
* Kendra Neely-Martin, Southeast Missouri State University board of regents vice president, is another Missourian you should know. She is a sales representative with AztraZeneca global pharmaceutical company in St. Louis. Neely-Martin also teaches at-risk girls how to make the right life choices.
Ingram's is a Kansas City-based publication that annually identifies 50 notable Missourians.
Other Missourians who made the list include University of Missouri system president Tim Wolfe, Rex Sinquefield of Show-Me Institute in St. Louis and former St. Louis Cardinals baseball player Lou Brock.
The St. Louis Business Journal recently named Cape Girardeau Central High School graduate David Jackson to its 2014 "30 Under 30" class. Jackson is managing partner of the Gate Way Group, the lobbying and association-management division of Pelopidas LLC, a public affairs and advocacy firm.
Jackson is responsible for forming the legislative vision and strategy for Gate Way's lobbying and association management client base.
Each year, the journal selects prominent business leaders and entrepreneurs from a diverse group of candidates in the St. Louis region for the award.
Dr. Jeremey Dohogne of Benton, Missouri, joined Leet EyeCare at its 3230 Blattner Drive and 856 N. Kingshighway locations in Cape Girardeau.
Dohogne provides eye care for all ages, and he specializes in contact lenses and geriatrics. He also joined the Midwest Mobile EyeCare team of Leet EyeCare optometrists that serves Southeast Missouri nursing home residents.
Dohogne is an honors graduate of the University of Missouri – St. Louis College of Optometry where he received the Contact Lens Clinical Excellence Award. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Missouri Optometric Association and Vision Source. He also served eight years in the Missouri Army National Guard and is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Dohogne is a member of the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce, the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce, the Cape Girardeau Jaycees and VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.
Stylists Lisa Wissinger, Laura Lea Green, Jo Ann Mirly and Barb Hammers recently joined Hair Port, in the old Bunny Bread bakery at 310 Christine St. in Cape Girardeau. Hair Port has a staff of 10 stylists.
Each stylist has more than 30 years of experience. They specialize in hair color and highlighting, family haircuts, facial waxes and permanent waves.
Eugene Besand and Michael Remley, safety director and on-site safety representative, respectively, at Robinson Construction in Perryville, Missouri, completed the requirements for national certification as Safety Trained Supervisors.
The Board of Certified Safety Professionals awards the certification to those who meet experience and education requirements, including passing a comprehensive exam that includes subjects such as hazard recognition and analysis, personal protective equipment, regulatory compliance and incident investigations.
Lindsay Lawrence of Perry County Memorial Hospital earned the Certified Hand Therapist designation after completing required examinations and clinical studies.
Requirements include at least five years of clinical experience as an occupational therapist and a minimum of 4,000 hours of direct practice in hand therapy.
Lawrence is an occupational therapist at Perry County Memorial Hospital. She graduated with a master's of occupational therapy from Maryville University in St. Louis. She has been practicing for seven years with outpatient rehabilitation, acute hospital care, home health care and pediatrics.
Michelle Quade (pictured below) of Coldwell Banker Abernathy Realty, was recently recognized by rural development home loan staff in light of Homeownership Month in June for her efforts to promote rural development housing programs.
