Yoga teachers finish training

Beth Bowlin, Tracy Curtis, Robin Drury and Lauren Jones of the Source-Yoga 'N More recently completed YogaWall Level 1 teacher training at the Agape Yoga Studio in St. Louis, with Iyengar Yoga National Association-certified instructor Bryan Legere of Ventura Yoga in Ventura, Calif. The YogaWall specialty training will be incorporated into spinal rejuvenation yoga, back pain-relief yoga and range-of-motion yoga, which concentrates on increasing the flexibility and strength of the shoulders, hips and hamstrings. Classes will start in the fall in addition to the studio's regularly scheduled classes.

3 attend wound symposium

Dr. Julie Anderson, clinical wound specialist, and nurses Brenda Venable and Renee Hinkebein represented SoutheastHEALTH's Wound and Hyperbaric Medicine Center at the 24th annual symposium on advanced wound care in Dallas. More than 2,000 physicians, podiatrists, nurses, therapists and researchers from across the globe attended. Subjects covered included wound care, limb preservation and wound therapeutics.

Funeral director celebrates 50th

William T. "Bill" Crain was recently honored as a 50-year Illinois licensed funeral director and embalmer. Crain, of the Carbondale-Murphysboro area, and formerly of Alexander and Pulaski counties, is a 1959 graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science. After serving a one-year apprenticeship, he became licensed in April 1961. Crain has been affiliated with the family operation of Crain Funeral Homes and Cemeteries of Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri his entire life and still actively serves families.

Big River hires three

Big River has hired Kara Wurtz, Katelyn Wensink and Tim Tettambel to help with the Big River Broadband build-out. Wurtz will assist Big River as a data analyst. She graduated from Creighton University with a bachelor's in business administration in 2007. Wensink will join Big River as director of retail operations. Wensink graduated from Missouri State University with a bachelor's in psychology. Wensink has eight years of experience in the retail industry, three years in wireless and extensive involvement in community relations. Tettambel is vice president of new ventures. Tettambel received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Missouri and his master's degree in business from Webster University. Tettambel has worked more than 20 years in the Internet, communications and telecommunications industries.

Doctor joins Southeast Primary

Dr. Kenneth A. DeCoursey has joined Southeast Primary Care. DeCoursey specializes in family medicine with an emphasis on geriatrics. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Mississippi in Jackson, Miss. He is board-certified by the American Board of Family Practice Medicine.

DeCoursey will continue to practice at his current location at Southeast Medical Plaza, 1723 Broadway, Suite 120, in Cape Girardeau.

Gastroenterology practice adds doctor

Dr. Corey J. Sievers has joined Southeast Gastroenterology. Sievers joins Dr. Emad M. Abuhamda and Dr. Matthew D. Gaeta in the practice, in the Southeast Medical Plaza, 1723 Broadway, Suite 220. Sievers earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, Commonwealth of Dominica, West Indies. He is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Marketing company adds three to staff

Callie Clark Miller has joined BOLD Marketing in Cape Girardeau as the creative content strategist, focusing on marketing campaign concepts and interoffice project work flow. Clark Miller spent the last decade with Rust Communications as a writer and editor. Most recently, she oversaw editorial content for the Southeast Missourian's niche publications. Brian Hukel is now director of BOLD promotions. He will focus on customer relations, vendor relations and the selling and distribution of custom promotional products. Hukel has a bachelor's degree in education from College of the Ozarks and a master's degree in administration from William Woods University. He has 14 years' experience in public education, including five years in administration. Ryan Garnett has joined BOLD Marketing as client services director. He will be responsible for managing current accounts, business development, customer relations and marketing planning and research. He has a bachelor's degree in education with an emphasis in government, economics and history from Southeast Missouri State University. He also received a master's of education in administration from William Woods University. He has eight years' experience working with the public as a coach, athletic director and teacher of history, government, economics and law.
