Hency completes national certification program
Christy Hency, Court Clerk V and office manager of the Scott County Circuit Clerk's Office, recently completed the nationally recognized court management program sponsored by the National Center for State Courts' Institute for Court Management. Hency was one of 39 court personnel from across the state who participated in the nine-month training program. She has been awarded Court Manager certification by the national Institute for Court Management for completing the program.
Saint Francis Medical Center welcomes hospitalist Thomas
Dr. Reena Thomas has joined Saint Francis Medical Center as a hospitalist. Hospitalists are internal medicine physicians and pediatricians dedicated to the care of patients who are in the hospital. Thomas earned her medical degree from Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam Medical College in Kottayam, India. She completed a residency in internal medicine at Westlake Hospital in Melrose Park, Ill., and is board eligible in internal medicine. Thomas has research interests in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and elevated HDL.
Powers receives business valuation analyst certification
Tedd Powers, president of Corporate Strategy & Finance Associates in Cape Girardeau, has been certified as an accredited valuation analyst by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, an accrediting body for the business valuation and appraisal profession. To achieve certification, candidates must pass a comprehensive two-part examination. Accredited analysts provide appraisals for a variety of purposes including mergers and acquisitions, estate and tax planning and divorce litigation. Powers earned an MBA and a master of science in finance from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business. He founded the firm in January 2004.
Tan joins Community Counseling Center
Dr. Raymund Tan will soon join the full-time medical staff of the Community Counseling Center and will see new patients beginning in September. Tan is a graduate of Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan., and of the M.H. Aznar Memorial College of Medicine in the Philippines. He completed his residency in adult psychiatry at the University of South Dakota in Sioux Falls, S.D., in 2007 and recently completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the university. Tan will will provide adult, child and adolescent psychiatry services.
Semo Port employee elected to post at state organization
Beverly Miller, senior manager for finance and administration of the Southeast Missouri Regional Port Authority, was elected as president of the Missouri Port Authority Association at the organization's summer meeting in Ste. Genevieve. Mo. Miller previously served as treasurer. The organization represents the port authorities in Missouri and works closely with the Missouri Department of Transporation's Multimodal Division's Waterways Program and the state legislature on port issues. Missouri has five ports that actively handle freight, four ports that are operational and four in the planning stage.
Employees recognized for years of service
The Lutheran Home and Saxony Village in Cape Girardeau recognized its employees' years of service at a recent annual recognition breakfast.
Those completing five years of service were Vickie Kinder, Lena Stovall, Julie King, Tawanna McClinton, Samanta Roslen, Cindy Farrow, Jessica Lucas, Mary Beth Kerber, Stephanie Goddard, Anna Burdick, Dennis Gardner, Darlene Powell, Deloris Cooper, Michelle Alley, Christi Schlimpert, Paula Spitzmiller, Angela Brown, Kay Lampman, Joan Flentge, Janet Woods and Nancy Compas.
Employees with 10 years of service were Opal Gast, Terry Hinkebein, Janet Niedbalski, Angela Henderson, Calvin Ashworth, Joyce Snyder, Tia Wade-Murray, Cindy Carey, Jennifer Kiplinger, Pat Lingo, Lana McAnulty, Cathy Harris, Mary Wagoner, Shirley Popp and Jennifer Waggoner.
Employees with 15 years of service were Sandy Rahlfs, Janet Jackson and Brenda Rhodes.
Employees with 20 years of service were Pat Gohn, Joyce Ourth and Anna Stratton.
Louise St. John was honored for 25 years of service. The Lutheran Home is a comprehensive eldercare health system serving Southeast Missouri through nursing, assisted living, adult daytime care, home health and hospice services. Saxony Village is a full-service retirement community of duplexes and apartments operated by The Lutheran Home.
Seyer earns wellness coach designation
Cindy Seyer, director of wellness services at Southeast Missouri Hospital, has earned the designation of certified wellness coach. She is the first employee of the hospital to receive this certification, which is recognized by the National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association.
Hospital foundation names board officers
The Saint Francis Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors recently announced the appointment of four officers. David Crader will serve as chairman and Kevin Spaeth will be vice-chairman, second terms for both individuals. Norman Glaus will serve as secretary and Janet Esicar will serve as treasurer. These officers will work with the other members of the Foundation Family in continuing to support the mission of Saint Francis.
Crader is president, CEO and chairman of the board of Bank of Missouri and has more than 25 years of banking experience. He also served as a boiler technician in the U.S. Navy for four years. Crader attended Mineral Area College in Flat River, Mo., and later attended Southeast Missouri State University for graduate school. In addition to the Saint Francis Foundation, Crader serves on several boards in Perryville, Mo.
Spaeth is a partner at Rice, Spaeth, Summers & Heisserer L.C. in Cape Girardeau. Spaeth attended Southeast Missouri State University for undergraduate studies and earned his law degree from Washburn Law School in Topeka, Kan. He is a past member of the board of directors for the Family Learning Center in Cape Girardeau.
Glaus is a certified public accountant and owner of Glaus & Associates, CPA LLC. A graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, Glaus is involved with several professional groups including Cape West Rotary and the St. Vincent's Men's Association. He was active with the start-up of the Cape Area Youth Soccer Association.
Finally, Esicar has been involved with Saint Francis since 1998, when she began serving on The Friends of Saint Francis Board of Directors. She has been treasurer, vice president and president for the board, in addition to serving as co-chairwoman for The Friends of Saint Francis Benefit Golf Tournament in 2002 and 2003 and as co-chairwoman for the Ken Hayden Memorial Golf Tournament in 2006 and 2007. Esicar, who and attended Southeast Missouri State University, is senior vice president at First Missouri State Bank. She is also a United Way board member, an executive committee member for the Southeast Missouri State University Booster Board, a member of the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce and a past board member for the American Cancer Society.
