Jim Seabaugh has joined McCombs Funeral at Jackson as a full-time funeral director.
Seabaugh has been a licensed funeral director 15 years.
McCombs, one of the oldest funeral homes in Cape Girardeau County, is at 640 W. Independence (Route D) in Jackson, and is currently building a new funeral home at 1425 Kurre Lane in Cape Girardeau.
Tonya L. Buttry, who has been affiliated with Southeast Missouri Hospital's College of Nursing since the program started in 1991, has been named chairwoman of the college.
Karen Hendrickson, assistant administrator and chief nursing officer, announced Buttry's appointment recently.
Buttry, who has been serving as interim chairwoman since late January, succeeds Sandy Buchheit, who has returned to school.
Buttry joined Southeast Missouri Hospital 12 years ago and has served as a staff nurse on the hospital's surgical progressive care unit and as a clinical teaching associate for nursing students. She joined the College of Nursing staff as course coordinator and instructor for medical-surgical and mental health nursing courses.
A graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree in nursing, Buttry earned her master's degree in nursing at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. She is currently enrolled in a doctoral program in curriculum and instruction at SIU-Carbondale.
Timothy Scott Butler of The Financial Doctor, formerly Butler & Associates Insurance-Financial Services, has completed requirements for Certified Financial Planner certification.
The certification process included a number of financial planning courses and tests, including a final two-day, 10-hour examination.
The tests are administered by the certified board of standards.
Butler is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He also holds a degree in gerontology.
The Financial Doctor specializes in assisting people planning for retirement and those who are already retired.
Shannon Bigham of Olive Branch, Ill., has been named assistant manager of Tobacco Lane, 265 West Park Mall in Cape Girardeau.
Bigham's promotion was announced recently by Ralph Sharp, owner of the business.
Bigham, who joined Tobacco Lane in January 1994, will be working with collectibles at the store.
Tobacco Lane offers a number of collectible items, such as MI Hummel, Memories of Yesterday, Anheuser-Busch steins and Tom Clark Gnomes.
Stephen L. Watkins of Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter has been appointed to serve on the Convention, Continuing Education, Seminars and Programs Committee for the Missouri Funeral Directors Association.
Watkins' appointment was announced by Dwane A. Wills II, president of the funeral directors group.
Kevin F. Britton of Dexter has joined Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.'s Ozark Mountains Agency in Springfield as an account representative.
He will be responsible for sales and services of Met Life insurance and other financial products.
Kevin Sawyer, a Shelter Insurance Co. agent at Jackson, has been honored for sales and agency operations.
He received a plaque during the company's recent "Conference of Champions."
Sawyer has been with Shelter Insurance since 1971.
The company, headquartered in Columbia, will observe its 50th anniversary in 1996.
