Wayne Smith of Cape Girardeau has joined Consolidated Communications Inc. as president of the firm's Harrisburg, Ill., office. Smith has served as general manager of the rural markets for CyberTel Cellular, an Ameritech Co., with overall responsibility for Sedalia, Lake of the Ozarks, Columbia, Rolla and Southeast Missouri. Wayne Smith of Cape Girardeau has joined Consolidated Communications Inc. as president of the firm's Harrisburg, Ill., office.

Smith has served as general manager of the rural markets for CyberTel Cellular, an Ameritech Co., with overall responsibility for Sedalia, Lake of the Ozarks, Columbia, Rolla and Southeast Missouri. At Consolidated he will be responsible for all aspects of the business, producing 350 telephone directories in 37 states.

Donna Hanschen will be CyberTel's Southeast Missouri manager in the office at 500 N. Kingshighway. Dale Kammerich will be CyberTel's Western Missouri manager, operating out of the Columbia office.

Brian Abernathy of Jackson has joined Coldwell Banker Blanchard & Associates Realty Inc., 2836 East Jackson Blvd., at Jackson.

Abernathy, a graduate of Jackson High School, attended Southeast Missouri State University. While in college, he became involved with residential construction that evolved into full-time construction and contracting.

Thomas C. Holshouser, a Cape Girardeau architect, has been recognized in a national publication for his creative exterior use of ceramic tile.

The Community Counseling Center, 402 S. Silver Springs Road, is pictured in the Sweet's Catalog System for its outstanding design in the use of Dal-Tile.

Sweet's Catalog System is a resource used by architects, engineers and contractors for access to about 2,000 building product manufacturers.

Holshouser, a native of Cape Girardeau and owner of Holshouser & Associates, 219 N. Clark, is a registered architect in Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky and Arkansas.

The ceramic tile contractor for the Counseling Center was Miller Drywall of Scott City. The general contractor was Sides Construction Co. of Cape Girardeau.

Terri Hirsch, literacy coordinator for the Cape Girardeau Vo-Tech School, recently attended a Family Literacy Summit, sponsored by the National Center for Family Literacy headquartered at Louisville, Ky.

Keynote speakers included Sharon Darling, president of the center, and Robert E. Bartman, commissioner of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Dr. Zenon M. Duda, who practices in Cape Girardeau, Perryville and Kennett, recently participated in a surgical training symposium on a new, advanced surgical technique known as Endoscopic Plantar Fasciotomy.

The procedure is used to treat heel pain caused from heel spur syndrome. The surgery is performed by the surgeon via endoscopy, where the procedure is performed while viewing it on a TV screen.

The procedure was developed by Dr. Stephen Barrett and Dr. Stephen Day, both of Houston, Texas, who say it can be performed under a local anesthetic and allows immediate weight-bearing for the patient.

Kenneth P. Volkerding of Jackson has earned membership in Lutheran Brotherhood's 1993 Top Club, the firm's top sales honor.

Volkerding is associated with Harlan W. Pals Agency in St. Charles.

Top Club qualification is based on the sale of insurance and investment products to Lutherans.

Phyllis Johnson and Lawanda Werner, both of Century 21 Dutch Realty, 2707 E. Jackson Blvd., in Jackson, have been recognized as members of the 1993 Century 21 Masters Club.

Werner qualified for the Ruby-level Masters Club membership by producing a minimum of $60,000 in gross closed commissions and, or closing a minimum of 24 units each year for two years. Johnson qualified as a first-year member of the Masters Club.

Century 21 Dutch Realty was recognized as a 1993 Quality Service award winner. To receive a Quality Award, winning offices must achieve a 90 percent or higher satisfaction rating from customers during the year. Dutch Realty is one of 560 Century 21 offices in the South Central region.

Awards were presented during the Century 21 Eastern Outer Brokers Council award banquet at the Airport Marriott Hotel in St. Louis.

Joy Englehart of Jackson, fashion coordinator for Weekend Casual Wear, recently attended the Spring Fashion Launch in Chicago, where new styles and colors were revealed.

Weekender Fashion, founded in Canada in 1984, manufactures its clothing in the U.S. and distributes it through independent fashion coordinators.

Century 21 Key Realty was named the second-highest-producing office in the Century 21 Eastern Outer Brokers Council for 1993, and was honored as a 1993 Centurion office during an awards banquet at the Airport Marriott Hotel in St. Louis.

The Centurion rating is the highest award presented by the Century 21 system. The Cape Girardeau firm, 980 N. Kingshighway, also was honored as a 1993 Quality Service winner.

Two sales associates of Century 21 Key Realty also earned Centurion status. Birdie Rader and Jane Clark were among the 18 sales associates of more than 1,500 in the region to win Centurion honors. Rader and Clark were two of only four agents in the region to also earn the sales associates' Quality Service award.

Other Key Realty associates honored were: Martha Brown, Diane Miller, Pamela Johnson and Evelyn LeGrand, who qualified for the 1993 Million Dollar Club; David Donley, first-year member of Masters Club; Shirley Gregory, Emerald-level Master Club for three years; Rader, Master Club Hall of Fame for achieving Centurion status for more than three years; and Martha Hamilton, President's Club, for producing a minimum of $90,000 in gross closed commissions for the year.

Denee Knight has joined the Style Stop Impact beauty salon.

Knight is a graduate of the Paducah, Ky., Area Vocational Educational Center's cosmetology program. She has five years experience as a stylist.

Robert Kluesner has joined Pest Free Inc. at Jackson.

He is a certified technician in both general-household and termite pest control. He attended Southeast Missouri State University.
