David M. Plassman, a certified public accountant with Schott & Van de Ven, Certified Public Accountants, attended a seminar on advanced federal income taxation of estates, trusts and beneficiaries. The seminar also covered Advanced Form 1041 Return Preparation Issues.
Topics included depreciation and depletion deductions for estates, generation-skipping and their tax consequences.
Plassman is accounting supervisor at the firm and a member of the Jackson Rotary Club.
Also, Scott A. Van de Ven and Cassandra N. "Nikki" Wilson, both certified public accountants with the firm, completed specialized training using data extraction and analysis tools by ACL Software of Vancouver. B.C.
The three-day seminar focused on using computer assisted techniques to improve business processes, improve audit and organizational effectiveness and to detect and combat fraud. ACL Software allows most types of computer data to be read and analyzed across various computer systems.
