Does your business need an online marketing makeover? Wondering if you should be on Facebook and Twitter and whether these tools can help you make money?

The Southeast Missourian is hosting seven free seminars with national online marketing and social media expert Shannon Kinney Oct. 30 to 31 and Nov. 1 at the Concourse Building in Cape Girardeau.

Today, local businesses are investing in websites, social media campaigns, search advertising, video and other tactics to engage their consumers. But many don't have the time or resources to do it right, said Southeast Missourian publisher Jon K. Rust.

"If you're confused by all of the options and looking for real-world answers, this seminar is for you," Rust says. "You will walk away with a basic understanding of how social and traditional media work together, what online tools are best for you and have a plan to implement your goals."

With multiple times to choose from, attendees are encouraged to sign up early, as seating is limited to allow for questions and the sharing of an online reputation report tailored to each pre-registered business.

"Those who register before Oct. 24 will receive a free study that shares their business' online reputation and ranking against local competition," says Donna Denson, advertising director of the Missourian. "This valuable report gives a snapshot of how others see their business and competition online locally, remembering that even if you are not online, your reputation is."

"This is the first in a series of resources the Southeast Missourian plans to host, helping local businesses better market themselves," Rust says. "You can count on it being a dynamic session and one not to miss. Shannon is a leading expert on social media with more than 15 years developing successful online marketing campaigns. She has consulted to businesses as big as Google and as small as a mom-and-pop corner store. Now she is a sought-after speaker nationwide. We are pleased to host her presentation as a free resource to local businesses."
