Aslinger Summer Music Festival set

The Howard Aslinger Foundation will host its annual Summer Music Festival from 4 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the red show barn in Arena Park, 410 Kiwanis Drive in Cape Girardeau. The event will feature live music from Mike Renick, Platinum Strings, Paragon and Us Instead. Concessions will be provided by 2 Sides Grillin' and will include food, beer, wine, soda and water. Tickets for the festival cost $10 in advance and may be purchased at Missouri Running Co. in Cape Girardeau, or they will cost $15 at the gate. Proceeds will go to the Howard Aslinger Foundation, which helps those with disabilities further their education.

Mayfield center to host King concert

The Mayfield Cultural Center will present local pianist Cory King at 7 p.m. Saturday at the center, 209 Mayfield Drive in Marble Hill, Missouri. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets will cost $20 and include a dessert reception after the concert. Reservations are required and may be made by calling (573) 238-8515. Proceeds from the show will go toward the purchase of a piano.

River City Players to hold open meeting

The River City Players will host an open meeting for current members, anyone interested in joining the acting troupe and anyone who would like to know more about the group at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Port Cape Girardeau's Yacht Club, 19 N. Water St. in Cape Girardeau.

Ragtag Comedy show to be held

Ragtag Comedy will present a comedy show at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at Paddlewheel Pizza & Subs, 127 N. Water St. in Cape Girardeau. Comedians will include Audra Novak, Richard Cason, Kyle Morr and headliner Scott James. Tickets will cost $5 if pre-ordered or $6 at the door. Tickets may be purchased online at www.squareup.com/store/ragtag-comedy.
