Crisp Museum to host adult art workshops

Adult art workshops are being offered by the Crisp Museum at Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus this fall as a part of the Tuesdays at the Museum workshops. Each workshop is from 9 a.m. to noon. The workshops will include watercolor, Sept 10, 17 and 24; glass to pastel chalk, Oct. 1 and 8; pencil portraits, Oct 15 and 22; portrait oil painting, Nov. 5, 12, 19 and 26, and bookmaking, Dec. 3, 10 and 17. Acting Out to present ‘Joseph'

Acting Out's production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's classic "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" will open in Jackson this month. Directed by Kasey Cox, the show features Sara Harrer as The Narrator and Jordan Cox as Joseph. The performances are 7 p.m. Sept. 13, 14, 20 and 21 and 3 p.m. Sept. 15 and 20. Fiddlers meet Mondays at John A. Logan

CARTERVILLE, Ill. -- Fiddling classes will meet on Monday nights at John A. Logan College in Carterville, beginning Monday. Joanne Long, lead instrumentalist for the Smoky Hollow String Band, is returning for her eighth year as instructor for the classes. She'll meet beginners at 6 p.m. and intermediate students at 7:30 p.m. Each class will last for an hour and 15 minutes, for a series of 10 classes. Instruction is by ear and musical notation. No prior lessons are required for beginners, who start playing tunes in the second session. Students pay a fee of $50 to the college for the series of classes and $10 to the instructor for a CD and sheet music. Enrollment will be open through Sept. 23. Faculty members present recital

Sara Edgerton and Paul Thompson, faculty members in the Department of Music at Southeast Missouri State University, will present a recital for cello and piano titled "From Bach to Bryars" at 2 p.m. Sept. 15 at Southeast's River Campus in the Shuck Music Recital Hall.
