Port Cape
By Misty Smith
You can pretty much satisfy all tastes one way or another at Port Cape. whether you feel like beef or chicken or you are even a vegetarian, I'm sure you will find something to enjoy. I myself have eaten there many times, and have taken all avenues, from their barbecued pork to their catfish to their awesome salads that 4 people could eat and still have some left over. If you like fancy dishes, this isn't the place for you. At Port Cape, it's more like their Famous BBQ and a glass of iced tea, with a juke box in the background. You could go to Port Cape to get all fired up or you could go to wind down.
I love the atmosphere, it's very laid back with kind of a historic river theme. You can sit at big wooden tables or up at the bar. There's a trail of photos on the wall that follow each other to show a large section of the river. When you eat there, you definitely know we're by the old Mississippi. It's name kind of gives that away. There's all kinds of historic river memorabilia decorating the walls. Actually the whole building and business has a really neat history. It's located downtown almost right on the river on Water Street and has been a river landmark since the 1800's.
Another main attraction for Port Cape is that you can also drink adult beverages. They have everything you need from Amber Bock to Chardonnay. They also have a designated area called the Waterstreet Lounge if you don't feel like eating. I haven't had that privilege just yet, but I definitely will. They have also have Premium Cigars for sale in the Lounge.
Port Cape would be a relaxing place to take a date for dinner or a fun place to go out with friends. You can also get an order delivered. That's great for lunch. I love having marinated chicken breast with a baked potato and salad on the side brought right to my door. That's better than pizza any day.
The servers are always very attentive and polite. It usually doesn't take a long time, even for delivery. The price of the food isn't too bad either. You can eat a nice dinner with a couple of drinks for yourself for under $15.
