G.D. Fronabarger left the Missourian boxes and boxes of negatives. What he didn't leave were IDs for them. Pictures of the Past features some of Frony's images we've partially identified. April 27, 1954, saw a river-like scene in the 300 block of Broadway, the result of a heavy rain. Water reached close to the floorboards of automobiles parked on the street. Cars were forced to remain stationary until the water level dropped. For having lived longer continuously in Chaffee, these four citizens received special awards at the Golden Jubilee celebration in September 1955, with Roy Ward (right) making the presentation. From the left are Mrs. George W. Stone, Mrs. Minnie Barber and Dave Heltibrand, all residents there since the spring of 1905, and Mrs. H.L. Cordrey, a resident since December 1904.

Nov. 21, 1951 Southeast Missourian. Here are most of the boys and their leaders who attended the annual Southeast Missouri Council Cub and Scout roundup Saturday. The process entailed the eating of 2,300 hot dogs, 12 bushels of apples, 15 cases of cookies, 1,100 half pints of milk and 16 quarts of mustard, in addition to quantities of popcorn and soda pop consumed later at Houck Stadium as they watched the State College-Springfield football game. Units were here from Portageville northward and were accompanied by 159 leaders. The boys, led by the college band, paraded from Courthouse Park to Houck Stadium after their lunch. H.A. Suedekum and Elmer Abernathy were in charge of the food. Ribbon awards to units will be announced soon. (G.D. Fronabarger/Southeast Missourian archive)
