First responders work the scene of an explosion at Noranda Aluminum, Tuesday, August 4, 2015, in New Madrid, Missouri. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, five people were injured when an explosion occurred in the metal service area on the north side of the plant. The south wall of the metal service area was blown almost completely off, and holes could be seen in the west wall. The metal service area is where molten aluminum from the potroom is cast into shapes.
