Himmelberger-Harrison Lumber Co. bought the Rodney G. Whitelaw house at the northwest corner of Broadway and Fountain in 1906 as the site of its new five-story office building. In December 1906, workers moved the lumber company's offices to the new building. The building was sold in 1921 to Liberty National Life Insurance Co. for $200,000. The appearance of the building was changed in 1936, when workers removed the overhanging coping at the top of the structure, and a stone topping replaced. The men worked at night to escape the intense summer heat. Missouri Utilities and the law firm of Oliver, Oliver, and Jones acquired the building in 1978 and modernized it. circa 1920.
