Mayor Harry Rediger announced plans for a new wood-bat Prospect League baseball team during a press conference Jan. 19, 2018, at the Cape Girardeau SportsPlex. The team, which has yet to be named, will play a 60-game schedule with home games at the artificial-turfed Capaha Field.
