A season of plenty! This intimate family group picture looking over the variety of produce grown in its own garden well illustrates how bountiful gardens have produced this season, the finest growing period in many years. In the picture are Mr. and Mrs. Ernest F. Schuette, their son, Darrell, and their daughter, Mrs. Larry Bollinger, at their farm home in the Roberts school community, five miles northwest of Jackson. Their garden is typical of what any family using a moderate amount of energy can produce to provide most of the food wants for their table. Here are beans, roasting ears, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, potatoes, onions, peppers and what have you. The Schuette family adheres closely to a balanced farm program on their 205 acres, and they’ve enough garden produce here to supply the vegetable needs of several families. (G.D.
