Deciding which way to wear the bonnet, these Cape Choraliers watch as Mrs. Joe Blackwell ties a frilly bow on Mrs. Arthur E. Jackson’s satin and net creation. Other Choraliers modeling “Gay Nineties” costumes for their Friday night show are, left to right, Lee Brothers, Mrs. Glenn O. Smith Jr., Leon Whitler and Mrs. Jake Wells. The colorful bustles and bonnets were given out to the 38 women at rehearsal this week, and the men were presented white straws, loud vests and handlebar mustaches. A group of sailors posed before climbing into a St. Louis-Cape Bus Line bus. The picture was made at the bus depot on Frederick Street. Aug. 5, 1957 Southeast Missourian.
This contingent from the naval reserve division departed Saturday by bus for St. Louis, then went by plane to Long Beach, California, for two weeks of ship-type active duty.
