March 1, 1957 Southeast Missourian. Donald Ridings of near Painton has constructed an automatic grain feeder for his 63 head of steers. He says that he can grind, mix and store feed sufficient for several days in the grain storage building part of the feeder, and feeding the cattle is a matter of minutes and very little effort. The feeder is operated by an electric motor attached to an auger that pulls the grain from the grain house and distributes evenly in the feed bunks. (G.D. Fronabarger/Southeast Missourian archive)
