Nov. 17, 1962 Southeast Missourian. Handmade puppets, made from discarded paper sacks, dramatize the story, “Mystery of the Hidden Cat,” in a sixth grade classroom at Lorimier School in Cape Girardeau. These girls, Susan Redwine, Deanna Miller and Martha Vogel carried out an idea for giving their book report through a puppet show. Their classmates and teacher, Mrs. Jean Mabrey, were delighted with the results. The junior playwrights repeated the show for an appreciative fourth and fifth grade audience. (G.D. March 1, 1961 Southeast Missourian. Cheerleader champions were chosen for the elementary schools in Cape Girardeau this year and this group, from Trinity Lutheran School, won the title, the champs being picked by the basketball coaches of the elementary schools. March 25, 1959 Southeast Missourian. In a colorful “fiesta” of songs and dances, pupils of the fourth grade Spanish class of new Jefferson School displayed their ability Tuesday afternoon at mastering the language and native dances. Parents of the pupils and special guests made up the audience for the event held in the school gymnasium. Oct. 6, 1961 Southeast Missourian. Characters from the stories of many countries are set in mural pattern in the new children’s library at the Public Library. May 26, 1954 Southeast Missourian. Studying the history of printing presses and printing, members of the 6A class at Washington School, taught by Miss Elsie Thomas, made a laboratory session out of their project Monday and visited The Missourian plant where they saw the newspaper made up and printed. Oct. 5, 1963 Southeast Missourian. Third grade pupils at Trinity Lutheran School busy themselves making vases. Fronabarger/Southeast Missourian archive) Miss Froemsdorf told her pupils to bring some bottles to class for a new project. Some of her pupils brought catsup bottles, others milk bottles and various shaped bottles. Crushed eggshells, dried and broken into fine pieces, were glued onto the bottles. The bottles were then painted various colors with enamel. The results: beautiful and glittering vases.

Published Nov. 25, 1959, Southeast Missourian. These first grade music pupils of Miss Clara Juden at Washington School presented a program as part of a Thanksgiving assembly of all pupils Tuesday at the school. Dressed as Indians and Pilgrims, the group formed the timely setting.
