We think this crowd shot was taken at the Jackson High gymnasium, probably at a basketball game. Jim Rapp agrees that this is the Jackson High gym. He dates the photo to 1958-61.

These community leaders are preparing for the annual United Way campaign. Bill Stone wrote: "Three of the gentlemen are: Second from the left, Frank Waltz, vice president of Missouri Utilities; third from the left, Richard Swaim, president of First National Bank, and fifth from the left, (James R.) Mahan, manager of J.C. Penny. I am pretty sure Mr. Mahan's first name was Robert, I remember him as Bob. His son, Roger, and I were in Scouts together. Also, Richard Swaim went by Dick."
