These four young women are unidentified, but they were probably modeling home-made dresses for a Singer sewing store. Anne Lamkin Kinder identified herself in the photo. “It was about 1956 or ’57. I’m second from left.” Mallory Lynn writes: "Lady on the far left is my grandma, Carolyn (Patrick) Young."

Boys and girls stand in front, while adults are in the rear of this large crowd. Among the adults is Mayor Walter Ford and three police officers.

The Missourian published food features weekly for many years, usually focusing on the culinary skills of women. This photo seems to be an exception to the rule, with an unidentified man demonstrating his cracker and dip technique. Bill Stone wrote: "I believe is Glenn Lampley."

Jim Rapp provided most of these members of the Jackson Future Farmers of America. Standing, left to right, were Bobby Banks, ?, Larry Bock, Joe Kurre, Joe R. Hoffmeister and Leonard Peerman. Seated, left to right, were Donald Bock, John Lorberg, ?, Gene Wills and Charles Peters.

March 7, 1961 Southeast Missourian. A tour of the Public Library Friday spurred the interest in independent reading of first graders taught by Mrs. Viola Young at Franklin School and who now are reading the book, “Our New Friends” and looking forward to meeting many new storybook friends in other new books. Librarian, Miss Mary Kempe, welcomed the children who were permitted to browse through the books and choose their own for reading, and Mrs. Young read them the story, “When the Root Children Wake Up.” For her kindness to them, the pupils presented a gift to Miss Kempe. On the tour were: Barbara Baltz, Mike Borth, Billy Bonge, David Bertrand, Stephen Boren, Mike Brame, Joe Boyd, Jill Brunton, Donna Criddle, Kathy Crites, Stephen Eakins, John Eldridge, Cindy Givens, Cindy Heller, Debbie Kirby, Brad Kirtley, Dobby Lacy, Mark McLaird, Jill Miller, Robert Nicholas, David Payne, Patti Palsgrove, Randy Proffer, Joe Popp, Gary Powell, Bonita Seabaugh, Debby Storz, Janet Weber and Cindy Wittich. Published Feb. 11, 1956. Today is Valentine Day and these morning kindergarten class pupils at Lorimier School had the table set and all ready for a party befitting the occasion.
