G.D. Fronabarger left the Missourian boxes and boxes of negatives. What he didn't leave were IDs for them. Pictures of the Past features some of Frony's images we've partially identified. Oct. 25, 1957 Southeast Missourian. Little flu bug downs tough State College gridders. With 20 of the regular squad of 33 players ill in varying degrees from influenza, the State College Indians were forced to postpone their scheduled game Saturday at Rolla with the Missouri Miners, and this photo shows ailing gridmen receiving examination and treatment at the Houck Field House training room. From the left are Don Varner, Jerry McConnell, Jim Springs, Bill Stacy, Arlen Powell, Frank Czapla and John Nicholas. Seated is Coach Kenneth Knox, who is watching Dr. O.L. Dr. Oda Lavinia Seabaugh practiced medicine in Cape Girardeau 43 years before ill health forced his retirement in 1959. He suffered a stroke in 1954 which resulted in limited practice until his retirement. He died at 85 on Dec. 9, 1970. Dr. Seabaugh was at the forefront when the Spanish influenza epidemic of 1918-1919 hit Cape Girardeau. He treated more than 100 members in the Student Army Training Corps at State College who were stricken, in addition to his private practice. All of his patients recovered.]

Help us identify these young men posing in front of the stage in Academic Hall's auditorium. Note the statue that towers in the background. It was part of a collection of statues purchased for the university by Louis Houck in 1904.

Lainie Bohnsack Thomas recognized her family in this photo: "We noticed the 'Pictures of the Past' section in the newspaper (Sunday the 22nd). That is our family in the photo! The little boy is my dad, Robert 'Bob' Bohnsack, his sister Susan Cole and my late grandmother, Laura 'Larry' Bohnsack. We are guessing the photo looks to be taken around 1956 or so, since Bob was born in 1954. Very cool to see them in the paper!"

In 1962, 10 Cape Girardeau women vied for the Outstanding Young Woman of Cape Girardeau award. Candidates were, seated, Mrs. Stephen E. Strom and Mrs. Charles E. Knote, and standing were, from the left, Mrs. Gary Rust, Judith Ann Crow, Mrs. Dan B. Cotner, Mrs. Melvin C. Kasten, Mrs. J.J. Russell and Mrs. John P. Bradshaw. Not pictured were Mrs. Milton George and Mrs. W.E. Walker Jr.
