G.D. Fronabarger left the Missourian boxes and boxes of negatives. What he didn't leave were IDs for them. Pictures of the Past features some of Frony's images we've partially identified. A couple uses the mailbox in front of Farmers and Merchants Bank, Sprigg and Good Hope streets, to mail armloads of envelopes. Kathy Pledger wrote: "I don't know them, but the building sure looks like the old bank on Good Hope and Sprigg. We banked there as a family and my mom got us in their Christmas Club accounts, so we could save for Christmas. Those were the days!"

Could this photo have been taken at Cape Girardeau's power plant? Bill Stone wrote: "The gentleman on the right is Charles Scheeter. Charlie worked for and retired from Missouri Utilities. I have no idea which power plant they are in nor do I recognize the other gentleman. I would think the photo was taken in the 1950s or early 1960s." Don Neumeyer added: "The plant is the old steam plant off Main Street by the creek. My Dad worked for Missouri Utilities. I worked for them in the summers in the late '60s. I would agree the date in in the 1950s when it was still running."

While the identity of these men is a mystery, perhaps the chalkboard behind them will give readers a clue as to who they are and what they're about. Gerald Johnnson wrote: "On the left is Jack Himmelberger and on the right is Paul Loiseau."

The back to school trek has already started in Cape Girardeau. These Central High School pupils literally went to school this week as they swarmed into the big structure to purchase their textbooks for the knowledge march ahead.
