Race director Kim Kelpe of Cape Girardeau said the event, named for her late father, raises money for the Howard Aslinger Foundation which provides scholarships to people with disabilities. “I think he’d be really proud of all of us. It’s really a family event,” she said of her father. The 24-hour running portion of the event started at 7 p.m. Friday lasting until 7 p.m. Saturday.
