2 die in accident near Malden
MALDEN, Mo. -- Two people died in a traffic accident Saturday on Highway 25 south of Malden. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the accident happened at 5:20 p.m. when a vehicle driven by John Abbott, 68, of Clarkton, Missouri, ran off the road and struck a tree.

Killed were two passengers in the vehicle, Doug Pruitt, 50, and Trevor Pruitt, 13, both of Clarkton.
Abbott was taken to a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, with serious injuries.
