RAYTOWN, Mo. -- A ticket sold at a grocery store in suburban Kansas City matched all six numbers in a Powerball drawing to win a $36 million jackpot, the Missouri Lottery said.

The winning numbers in the multistate game were 6, 11, 14, 27 and 41, with 38 as the Powerball and 5 as the Power Play multiplier.

Susan Goede, a Missouri Lottery spokeswoman in Jefferson City, said the winning ticket was sold at Cosentino's Apple Market in Raytown. She said the ticket-holder has 180 days to claim the prize by bringing it to one of the Missouri Lottery's four offices -- in Independence, Jefferson City, Springfield and St. Louis.

"Powerball? You're kidding!" said Rick Lawson, assistant manager at the Raytown store. "I haven't had anyone coming through the front door screaming and hollering yet this morning."

Retailers selling a winning Powerball ticket get $50,000.

"It's more the publicity than the actual dollar amount," said Lawson. "It will be good for us as a company."

Goede said Missouri's last winning Powerball ticket was also sold in Raytown, at John's Apple Market in September 2000.

That ticket was for a $14.3 million jackpot. She said Wednesday's jackpot was the eighth largest for any game in Missouri.

The biggest, for $130.6 million, also in a Powerball drawing, was won by a couple from Harmon in July 2003,

Goede said that if the winner of Wednesday's drawing elects a cash payment rather than annual installments, the value of the jackpot is $17.2 million.

The jackpot was expected to revert to the minimum of $15 million for Saturday.
